Non-Stop Flight SEE to DLL FL270 True Airspeed 300 kts
This blog is about our Lancair IV project and updates we are doing. Modifications include longer wings, more fuel, new propeller and updated avionics.
Project goals are to fly faster, higher and farther on less fuel (better efficiency range).
- Increased fuel capacity from 78 gallons to 122gal.
- New wing tips increase the wing span by 3 ft.
- Update VFR radios and Steam Gage’s to IFR glass.
- Replaced wood propeller with WhirlWind composite propeller.

AIRPLANE – 14KP
Airplane history: early slow build kit. Builder is Ken Pepiot. The workmanship is very good , clean ,straight, and light.
WING TIP ENGINEERING
Solid works model of wing tip and molds. Femap FEA modeling to validate carbon/honeycomb composite structure. Mold master patterns machined from tooling board using using integrated HSMworks CAM. Tip molds are service coated fiber glass
New wing tips increase the span 3 ft and are integral part of the wings fuel tank adding 10 gallons.
Tip structure is carbon fiber honeycomb sandwich construction.
Wing was modified to hold more fuel. Complete wet wing with the exception of spoiler bay.
